Q: How many calories can I burn during a BollyZ class?
The number of calories each person burns per class varies from 500-800.
 
Q: Are there any age restrictions?
You must be over 16 to take part in BollyZ Fitness. 12-15 can attend if they are accompanied by a parent/guardian. BollyZ is not suitable for 12 years and under.
 
Q: I have a previous injury, can I still dance?
Of course you can. When attending class you can take it at whatever pace is comfortable for you. Make sure you make the instructor aware of any new illnesses or injuries before the start of class.
 
Q: Is it important that I know how to dance?
No. BollyZ is designed for everyone, no dance or fitness experience necessary. People of many different ages, body types, backgrounds, dance and fitness levels all come together to have fun and get into fabulous shape with BollyZ.
 
Q: I’m unfit and have never done BollyZ before?
There is no need to worry if you have never taken part in a BollyZ class before. BollyZ uses a repetition of steps from class to class. Be patient and try it out a few times. After a few classes you will get familiar with the basic steps and my teaching methods. Before long you will be telling me what move is next! Most of all just have fun! There is no right or wrong way in BollyZ.
 
Q: What can I expect when I come to BollyZ?
BollyZ classes are not like your normal, everyday aerobics class in that the music not continuous, but rather it is "tracked" and includes a combination of fun invigorating Latin and International music styles. The BollyZ instructor leads the class in easy, simple and fun movements with a combination of dance and fitness moves, such as bicep curls, and lunges, by using visual and verbal cues. The class starts with a warm-up, proceeds to intervals of faster and slower tempos throughout the duration of the class (AKA Interval Training), and ends with a cool-down and stretch. Most BollyZ classes are cardiovascular workouts, but at times hand weights are incorporated for additional resistance training and toning.
 
Safety is our Number One concern...please consult your physician before you start ANY fitness program. If you have any back, knee or any other medical limitations, keep your moves basic and let your instructor know so that she can offer modifications to the various moves and steps.
 
Q: What if I'm not coordinated and I can't dance?
Be patient and don't get frustrated! BollyZ uses a lot of repetition steps in every class. After a few classes, you will learn the basic steps. Feel the Music! Most of all, just have fun! Even if you can't do a step, just move to the music! There is no wrong or right way to BollyZ.
 
Q: What if I'm out of shape and I can't keep up?
Before you begin any type of exercise program, please consult your physician for approval. You know your own body best and most people know their limits. Work out at your own pace until you are comfortable with the routine/exercise. By your third class, you will see an improvement in coordination and in stamina! Just hang in there. You have already taken your first step toward a healthier, better lifestyle by participating a fun, rewarding class. Be proud of yourself!"
 
Q: What kind of people are in the BollyZ classes?
People of all fitness abilities, ages, sizes and ethnicities take BollyZ classes.
 
Q: How will BollyZ benefit me?
It depends on how your exert yourself! Physically, you can burn anywhere between 300-1000 calories in one-hour! You will build cardiovascular strength and tone muscles. Mentally, you will relieve stress, stimulate your brain by learning new steps and building your coordination; plus you will smile and sweat at the same time! After one class, you will want to come back again and again!
 
Q: Can I take more than one class a week?
Yes! BollyZ is a GREAT cardiovascular workout! You should try to get a cardiovascular workout at least 5 times per week. It doesn't necessary have to be BollyZ... walking, bike riding, swimming, or any other type of cardiovascular workout will benefit you... however, BollyZ is the choice for most people, because it makes working out fun!
 
Q: Can I just try one class to see if I like it?
Yes, you can come to a drop-in class at any location and class time posted on the schedule page.
 
Q: Do I need to sign a Waiver:
All class participants and guests must sign a waiver before the class begins.
 
Q: What is the Min/Max class size:
Our class size typically ranges from 25-50 students.
 
Q: Should I eat before class?
Absolutely. You must fuel your body throughout the day. Eat a good substantial breakfast, good size lunch, and a piece of fruit or light snack an hour before class and drink plenty of water before, during and after BollyZ.
 
Q: What should I bring to class?
Bring bottled water and a towel if needed - burning 500-800 calories can be pretty sweaty. The most important thing is a sense of humour!
 
Q: What Should I Wear To Class?
Wear loose comfortable clothing that gives you freedom of movement - T-shirts / Vest Tops with leggings / tracksuit bottoms. Ladies - wear a supportive bra during BollyZ (preferably a sports bra).
 
Q: What type of shoes do I wear for a BollyZ Class?
Shoes should be comfortable with plenty of cushion and lateral support. Please do not wear running shoes to class, because you will risk injury. Any type of shoes that are used for dance, studio, or cheerleading will work for your BollyZ classes. Some cross-trainers will do, just as long as they do not have deep treads on the sole. Just keep this in mind, "If it looks like tire treads on the sole, do not wear them BollyZ as the treads will create resistance and will make it difficult to pivot and smooth make of "side-to-side" transition steps.
